Research And Development Specialist
ABOUT THE ROLE:
For our R&D Center in Savona, we are looking for a R&D laboratory specialist.
This role will report directly to the R&D manager and will be responsible for working in a fast-paced R&D product development focused on the development of food prototypes (i.e. beverages, confectionary, sweet baked goods and ice cream). The candidate will support the timely and efficient execution of all laboratory tests and propose solutions to improve the performance of new and existing ingredients, semi-finished and finished products.
Main Responsibilities:
The R&D laboratory specialist will:
- Manage the R&D Activities and Projects in a very close relationship with business unit
- Provide the development of food application and solution with Layn’s ingredients
- Participate in Conferences to catch and to develop new ideas and projects.
- Manage the documental process for new products.
In particular, the candidate will be focused on:
- Identifying new solution to enable the development of half-finished and finished products.
- Analyzing the data of experimental testing and taste, suggesting modification, and participating to the taste analyses to verify the product preservation.
- Performs laboratory testing in order to identify and develop new food solution.
- Collaborating on specific projects in closely contact with strategic customers
- Collaborating with the relevant business units for the constant maintenance of regulatory updating (legislation standards of the category) in order to quickly grasp any emerging problems or to take advantage of new opportunities.
- Providing to vendors technical support.
Profile
- The ideal candidate is a graduate in Food Science and Technology or similar graduation programs
- Has already gained an experience (at least 2/3 years) in Food and/or Beverage CPGs in Product Development roles and/or related food science, product innovation roles (preferred but not indispensable)
- Experience in beverages and bakery technologies is consider a plus
- Flexibility, adaptability and aptitude to team-work
- Good understanding of ingredient science, functionality, formulation, sensory evaluation, shelf-life tasting, scale-up
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a solid strategic mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Good proficiency in English and Italian
- Availability to reallocate in Savona Italy
